What Customers Say About Processor - 1 x Intel Core 2 Quad Q9450 / 2.66 GHz ( 1333 MHz ) - LGA775 Socket - L2 12 MB - Box:

My previous purchase was an EVGA GTX 260, and my old Pentium D 950 just couldn't do it. I got +30C* IDLE with an open case. I have been incrimentally updating my computer across about a year now. If you are building an all new system, an i5 may actually be a bettr price/performance (and only be about $20-30 more), but if your like me and can't afford to replace the MOBO, CPU and RAM together this is the price performance epitome. Games don't suffer, but I can tell I'm retarding performance in virus scans, and WinRAR. ES4: Oblivion went from 30FPS indoors, to 60 rock solid outside in the grass fighting multiple opponents on maximum resolution, plus load times are down ~30%. Plus you game can poplate 2 cores, while the system uses the other two (Windows 7 allocates cores on the fly). The only con I can find is the stock HSF.

I get ~+20C idle, and ~+30C on a burn (never seen it past 60C at Tj with Core temp)). This was the part to make it all click. The remedy is cheap and simple though, spend another $15 and get a Cooler master Hyper TX3 and you can burn test all you wan't. Assassin's Creed can run twice @ max res, and Darkest of days gives ~45 FPS in the physix test on max res, and the core never passes 40%.On a side note for quads, there are very few games that actually use 4 cores. Back to the not using 4, a quad and a GTX 260 (or 460) will be all you need for 3 years to run anything new. The only other con I was expecting, and thats that I only have 2 gigs of RAM. Problen is RAM is $25 a gig.*Degrees celcius over ambient room temperature.

I bought this cpu because its four cores, just right get arrived in my office, I began to mount it in my msi p35 mobo with 4 gb ram corsair and 750 gb HDD, this pc will be used like a server, and so far, it has worked excellent, I really recomend it.

So far I haven't had any problems with this cpu. I'm pleased with Intel and don't plan on going back to AMD anytime soon.

I am a gamer, I don't like to overclock anything, in the past I usually did this, must of the time I get errors when playing, It can be the cooling system or whatever, the thing is that if you overclock the components you are limiting the life of the component, so for this reason I buy this CPU, for the price I consider is a great value for every dollar I invest on this, I can play WOW at great speed, with no delay.

Mine idles at 15 degrees and on load it reaches a maximum of 37 running at 3.2GHz without raising the volt. my past q6600 gets too hot to try overclocking. this processor with added 12MB cache runs very fast. will certainly recommend it to anyone.
